Indeed, when our hearts open to these furry beings in need of protection, there’s an inexplicable pull that compels us to rescue them. One such remarkable woman, a member of the Lucky Dog Shelter in Stamford, Connecticut, USA, came across a dog in a dreadful predicament.
An enigmatic dog named Halo was found huddled on the forest ground. Her disoriented demeanor suggested that she was blind. Moreover, she was famished. Thankfully, the benevolence of this group of individuals has given Halo the chance to hope for a new beginning in life.
Halo was indeed in a dire condition. However, with some meticulous care, abundant affection, empathy, and, believe it or not, a handful of McDonald’s ice cream cones, the dog rose from her dire state and started to show her true self. That’s the real story.
As reported by a local news outlet, the small creature was abandoned amidst the foliage, curled up on the ground, likely anticipating the end of her torment through death. The milky hue of her pupils was a clear indication of her blindness.
A volunteer attempted to coax her into eating, hoping that she would muster the strength to stand and depart the location on her own. When she finally rose, they discerned the cause of her severe frailty: Halo was merely skin and bones.
Her name, “Halo”, which translates to “Halo” in Spanish, was chosen by the rescue team who resolved that if her condition became untreatable, they would euthanize her humanely. The truth was that she was enduring immense pain and was barely holding on. They deemed it unjust to extend her suffering.
“We believed it was unjust for her to suffer any further. If required, we were prepared to euthanize her,” remarked one of the rescuers.
Miraculously, Halo started to show gradual improvement and healing, with a real possibility of leading a normal life once again. She was taken in by a foster family to commence her medical treatment.
Stacy, Halo’s adoptive mother, stated that Halo’s health was in a dire state when she arrived. Yet, not a single person at the shelter hesitated to assist her in any way.
As soon as Halo was ready to start moving, she sought comfort in Stacy, expressing immense joy in experiencing the warmth of human affection, something she had never encountered before. Their bond is evident in their frequent hugs, kisses, caresses, and cuddles.
“Halo has made significant strides in her recovery and has transformed into a fluffy, energetic, pet-friendly, and intelligent dog, despite her visual impairment. She enjoys indulging in her favorite ice cream cones while lounging on the couch.”
