Elsa, a homeless canine, was discovered wandering the city streets alongside her companion, Hugo. She was suffering from a severe mite infestation and required immediate medical attention.
When the team from Ray Animal Rescue came forward to assist, Elsa’s demeanor was incredibly warm and welcoming. It was as if she understood their intentions to aid her. Yet, for the most altruistic reason imaginable, she resisted rescue…
Elsa the Beautiful Required Immediate Medical Care
Upon their first encounter with Elsa, a strikingly beautiful canine, the team from Ray Animal Rescue found her in a distressing state. She was plagued by a severe mite infestation, her skin was scaly, irritated, and inflamed, she was incessantly scratching, and her body was covered in patches.
The team attempted to swiftly get her into a vehicle and transport her to a veterinarian, but she resisted for the most endearing reason imaginable. Specifically, she was accompanied by her stray dog friend – Hugo, and she insisted that he accompany her.
Moved by this touching display of compassion, the RAR team decided to bring both Elsa and Hugo to their facility.
“Without hesitation, we all got into the car – we simply couldn’t leave Hugo behind.”
She Found the Foster Home She Desperately Needed
In the initial months, Elsa required round-the-clock care. The staff had to bathe her continuously for two consecutive months to eliminate the mites. This was a slow and somewhat demanding process, but the crucial outcome was Elsa’s recovery.
After spending some time at the RAR facility, she began to eat better, her skin showed fewer patches, and she became more playful.
However, she wasn’t entirely accepted by the other dogs due to her larger size. This led the team to seek a foster home for her, which they successfully found.
Elsa was welcomed into a loving foster home with another canine companion. Her foster parents showered her with nothing but affection and the highest level of care. Although her stay was supposed to be brief, something extraordinary occurred…
Hugo Found a Home Sooner Than Elsa
Hugo, being a much smaller dog without health complications, was adopted much earlier than Elsa. She had several visits from potential adopters, but ultimately, no one chose her.
In a sense, her foster family was relieved that there were no serious contenders yet, as they had quickly formed a bond with Elsa and wished for her to stay with them as long as possible.
When the final family came to discuss the possibility of adopting Elsa, her foster mother was particularly distressed…
“When a family came to see her, I was deeply upset and shed tears because I didn’t want to let her go.”
Following that visit, she realized that she couldn’t just be Elsa’s foster parent anymore. She wanted Elsa to remain with them… permanently!
