Ashley Boggs has dedicated her life to rescuing dogs. On a fateful day, while navigating a secluded forest path in Puerto Rico, she encountered a distressed, brown dog pleading for assistance from passing vehicles.
This dog behaved unlike the typical stray; it didn’t vanish into the forest or wander aimlessly along the road. Instead, it seemed to be urgently communicating a message to Boggs.
A Mother’s Plea for Her Pups
Stepping out of her vehicle, Ashley quickly understood the gravity of the situation. The dog, a mother nursing her young, was in dire need of aid for her puppies. Abandoned in the wilderness without sustenance or water, the small dog was the sole protector of her litter.
In a stroke of fortune, Boggs, an employee of Miracles for Satos Rescue based in New York, arrived just in time to become their savior.
In addition to the mother dog, subsequently named Goji, two puppies were also discovered in a hidden spot.
The trio displayed immediate friendliness, allowing Boggs to easily place them in her vehicle. Yet, the sound of additional puppies whimpering from the forest indicated more were in need. Compelled by their cries, she prepared to search the area further.

Ultimately, Boggs discovered an additional four puppies concealed close to the discarded box they were left in. The compassionate volunteer devoted herself to the rescue, ensuring each of the seven puppies was safely accommodated in her vehicle.
Rescue of the Berry Pups Completed Just in Time
Upon their arrival at the rescue center, Boggs and her colleagues ensured the newfound canine family received the comprehensive care they required. Facing hunger and in need of a new beginning, the dogs were provided with exactly that—a chance to start anew.
Miracles for Satos Rescue, a benevolent organization, is dedicated to rescuing dogs from Puerto Rico, transporting them to New York, and securing them loving permanent homes. The puppies were indeed fortunate that Ashley Boggs came to their rescue.
Subsequently, the puppies were placed in a foster home, where they began interacting with other dogs and acquiring essential puppy etiquette.
Goji, the mother, seamlessly adjusted to her new environment, her nature being exceptionally loving.
“The epitome of a perfect dog, Goji wins the heart of every person and dog she encounters. She’s a fan of affectionate gestures, cuddles, and is always up for performing tricks in exchange for treats,” shared the MFSR team on their social media.
The remaining puppies received the names Raspberry, Blueberry, Gooseberry, Cloudberry, Blackberry, and Strawberry.
“The berry theme for their names was inspired by the way we found them nestled in the foliage, much like berries are discovered amongst the bushes,” explained the MFSR team.
Embarking on a Fresh Journey
Goji found solace in a sanctuary where the safety of her brood was no longer a concern. Her trust blossomed under the care of her human friends, transforming her into the most endearing dog, with her sole purpose being to spread happiness to all around her.
“Walks are a delight for her, but nothing compares to the warmth of resting on the lap of someone she loves. Goji is adored by all the volunteers for her incredibly sweet nature. She’s a beacon of joy every single day,” noted the MFSR team.
The Berry brood didn’t take long to find their forever homes, filling them with immense joy.
From a life of abandonment in the wild to basking in the love of their new families, these adorable pups have found their slice of heaven.
