It’s a sadly familiar sight to see stray dogs fending for themselves on the streets. Yet, it’s particularly distressing to encounter a lovely white pup who is not only homeless but also shackled to a roadside pole.
Such was the plight of a young white Husky discovered in Santa Monica, California. Constantly bound, he also endured daily torment from homeless individuals.
Despite his circumstances, the resilient six-month-old pup kept a cheerful demeanor, never giving up hope that a kind-hearted person would eventually rescue him.
Rescued From The Streets
One joyful morning, a white Husky known as Buckley experienced a stroke of luck. Amidst his toughest times, tethered to a fence, a rescuer happened to stroll by.
Struck by the sight of such a majestic creature enduring hardship on the streets, she sprang into action without hesitation.
In no time, Buckley was cradled in the caring embrace of Love Leo Rescue’s seasoned team. Those who encountered him at the rescue were touched by his indomitable spirit and infectious joy, which shone through despite his past adversities.
“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” Love Leo Rescue director Sasha Abelson told The Dodo. “He is well balanced and loving and didn’t let his previous experiences change his lovely personality.”
They lavished him with abundant affection, fostering a swift healing of his physical and emotional scars. In return, his boundless positivity radiated, eliciting beaming smiles from everyone at the center, both staff and volunteers alike.
To the rescue team’s bittersweet sentiment, Buckley’s tenure at the center was brief, as a loving foster home was promptly secured for him.
Thus, he stood at the threshold of a fresh beginning.
On The Road To A New Life
Upon learning of Buckley’s plight on the streets of Santa Monica, Angela felt a deep compassion and stepped forward to offer him a home.
Their connection was instantaneous, and Buckley thrived in the warmth of his new foster home. His persistent cheerfulness amidst adversity made his new surroundings seem like a slice of heaven.
“Buckley epitomizes the spirited, carefree nature of a husky,” remarked Abelson. “He’s enthusiastic about playtime with his canine companions, eager to learn, and enjoys both adventurous hikes and cozy cuddles with his people. He’s the quintessential family pet.”
Moreover, Buckley gifted Angela something precious too. He became a balm for her spirit, aiding her healing journey.
“Buckley is an incredible dog. As our foster, he’s supported my PTSD recovery. His need for activity and structure mirrors my own necessities,” Angela shared on Instagram.
Yet, this endearing dog continues to await a permanent family where he will find his ultimate joy.
“Buckley is yearning for an energetic household, ideally one with a playful, even-tempered canine,” Abelson noted. “A furry sibling would be ideal for him.”
Considering the genuine charm and grace Buckley exudes, it’s likely he’ll soon find his forever home and the joy that comes with it.
